What is National Casting Day?
National Casting Day is a nationwide initiative that shines a spotlight on the essential skills and services provided by casting departments in hospitals and clinics. It’s a day dedicated to orthopaedic casting, where teams celebrate their expertise, showcase innovative techniques, and engage with their local communities. Since its launch in 2014, National Casting Day has grown into a key event for fracture management plaster room services, and orthopaedic care across the UK, and one which Delta-Cast® is proud to support.
For your team: Raise awareness of your department’s role in fracture treatment and orthopaedic care. Highlight the variety of casting techniques and the number of patients you support. Build recognition for your team’s contribution to patient recovery.
For your community: Invite schools or community groups to learn about fracture clinics and casting procedures. Help children understand that plaster rooms are safe and supportive environments. Link your event to wider health education initiatives.
For your trust: Showcase collaboration and best practice across departments. Demonstrate how casting services impact patient outcomes and hospital efficiency. Promote innovation and education within your organisation and hospital trust.
Each year this event is held in November. This year’s event took place on Thursday, 6th November. Thank you to all Cast Crews for taking part and sharing their day with us. Watch the video to see the activities that were held up and down the country.
This year Delta-Cast also sponsored a Halloween themed cast-off competition. Cast rooms were invited to get creative and send a photograph to enter the competition. The level of the skills and creativity shown was outstanding. Thank you to all those that entered and, well done to the runners up and winners. It was very difficult to choose the winner but we’re pleased to announce that the winner was Royal United Hospitals Bath. Watch the video to see all entries and the winners!
Joint third place: Bristol Royal Infirmary and Children’s Hospital Leicester General Hospital
Second place: Walsall Healthcare Trust

A special shout-out to Princess Royal Hospital Telford for their brilliant use of the Delta-Cast bravery spider. We loved it!
